Timothy P. Cleary was first elected to office in November 2006, and took his Oath of Office on January 1st, 2007. He represents Broome County’s second Legislative District, which includes the city’s West Side and First Ward.
Legislator Cleary is the chairman of the Personnel Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development and Planning Committee as well as the Transportation and Rural Development Committee.
Tim is committed to improving economic opportunities in Broome County through bipartisan teamwork to promote change in the way our government functions. Mr. Cleary believes that individuals and the business community, especially small businesses, need to have a greater voice in the way government impacts their lives.
Tim is a retired Community Development Specialist with the USDA, Rural Development Agency, having served with them for 20 years. He has also served as a Union Steward with the American Federation of Government Employees Local 2831 and as chairperson for the USDA, Rural Development Equal Employment Advisory Committee.
Mr. Cleary is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s of science degree in Agribusiness Economics as well as SUNY Cobleskill graduate with an associate’s degree in Agriculture & Natural Resources. His community activities include being a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Parish, a CYO basketball coach and volunteer, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and he is also a member of the Westside Neighborhood Alliance.
